In no particular order:
1) Requiem for a Dream (2000)
2) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
3) Candy (2005)
4) Traffic (2000)
5) Basketball Diaries (1995)
6) Leaving Las Vegas (1995)
7) Enter the Void (2009)
8) Blow (2001)
9) Trainspotting (1996)
10) Pulp Fiction (1994)
Good list. I hate to ruin the perfect 10 by mentioning 21 GRAMS.

That’s a great list man. I’ve seen them all and can’t think of another to include. Unless the alcohol induced “Withnail & I” or the hash smoking “The Big Lebowski” counts but I do don’t think they do. What about “Half Nelson”?

Thanks. ‘Half-Nelson’ is an interesting suggestion, and it provides a different perspective on the topic for sure. I guess that’s why I titled my list ‘favourite’ rather than ‘best’ films (the film would have been included in ‘the best’ list). Perhaps that film does not resonate with me as much as do the others.

Fair point! It happens to a sub-genre I admire greatly. I love movies about tortured souls and the drug theme is normally a good one for this.

I could not agree more with your first choice. Requiem for a Dream is not only my favorite drug-related movie, but one of my favorite movies overall. It’s certainly a hard film to “enjoy” in a traditional sense, but it’s easy to appreciate the superb film-making and be completely glued in.

Great list! I’d also have to suggest Drugstore Cowboy.
